My father, Bill Hoernel, passed on in 2004. Throughout his adult years he made gifts of his art to hundreds of people, and in many parts of the world. Many hang in the homes of his friends, and many more have been bought, sold and passed on over the last five decades.
Before he died, it occurred to me that trying to collect images of these scattered works would be a worthy endeavour . . . as something of a homage that he might yet enjoy, and as a means to continue and extend his tradition of sharing. For those of you who own one or more of his paintings, this collection would provide you with a means to fit your paintings into the larger context of his life's work (while sharing them with others).
In addition to his talent as a painter, Bill was also a very fine storyteller . . . although very few of his friends were ever blessed with these stories: his most intimate expressions.
